Extase

De Dochter van de Korenaar in Baarle-Hertog, Antwerp, Belgium 🇧🇪

IPA - Imperial / Double Regular
Score
7.61
ABV: 8.5% IBU: 110 Ticks: 65
A heavy, copper colored, bittersweet and extreme hopped beer.

Extase is a Double IPA with a blend of fourteen excellent hops, very intense and with a balanced character. The slight sweetness of the malt sugars and the alcohol complement the bitterness of the beer. Extase does up to its name with its extreme hoppiness (over 100 IBU). A beer with stratification: because of the diversity of hops the beer tastes something differently with the gradual warming by every sip. A delight for every ‘hophead’.

Bottled. Hazy orangeish golden colour with a mediumsized white head. Aroma is zesty, some mild alcohol sweetness, fruits and nectar. Flavour is nectary, sweet fruity, some sweet malts, mild alcohol as well as some nice fruity and grassy bitterness in the finish. Refreshing and pleasant.

Many thanks to kappldav123 for sharing! Smooth fresh beginning. Intense floral hops, a bit sticky with a nice grainy back. Round and fruity, slightly grainy intense hop floral with more resin than pine, quite earthy.

30 April 2019. At Dirk's First Home-made Beer Tasting. Cheers to all! Pours hazy ochre-orange with a lasting, thick, foamy, off-white head; some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit juice, mellow mango, orange peel, fried onion, vegetable oil, breadcrust, stale lime. Taste is light fruity sweet, ripe mango & orange on a sourish lime-like undercurrent, medium hoppy bitter core of grapefruit juice, pine, oniony with a touch of green olive, all the while quite bready & yeasty. Dry, floral & earthy hoppy finish, more onion, grapefruit peel & yeast, some warming but subtle gin-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Great DIPA by Dochter!
