In PRIM we combined the sweet, juicy flavors of plums with the uniquely sweet and savory spice of cardamon to create a rich sour beer. Barrel-aged with our base sour ale, you can expect to find plum flavors with hints of grape coupled with a tart cardamon spice character. Light pinkish and yellow hues when poured, fruit and funk aromas, and layers of flavor and spice make this one of our most complex sours yet.

Bottle, bb 4/23 (WInes on Poath). Importer's label says ABV is 6% - it would be illegal to sell it here without a truthful statement of ABV. Opaque greyish red with a white head. Lots of cardamom in the aroma as well as crackery dough and vague stone fruit. Much more plummy upon a taste and the cardamom - which was maybe a little excessive in the aroma - is pushed a little into the background. A bit of that generic purple grape flavour. Soft texture with moderate sourness and some twiggy spices at the end. Good stuff.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 11/2017. Pours hazy reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1-2 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tart/tangy plums, fruit skin, cherry, raspberry, lemon, orange, red/green apple, red grape/wine, cardamom, citrus zest, pepper, oak, hay, herbal, grass, wheat, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of honey, caramel, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, plums, cardamom, oak, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/tangy plums, fruit skin, cherry, raspberry, lemon, orange, red/green apple, red grape/wine, cardamom, citrus zest, pepper, oak, hay, herbal, grass, wheat, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of honey, caramel, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light yeast/cardamom/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy plums, fruit skin, cherry, raspberry, lemon, orange, red/green apple, red grape/wine, cardamom, citrus zest, pepper, oak, hay, herbal, grass, wheat, toasted bread, light leather/funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, plums, cardamom, oak, and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light--moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly acidic/tangy, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited sour/wild ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, plums, cardomom, oak, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly acidic/tangy/drying finish, never overly lactic. Really fantastic balance of the plums, cardamom spice, and Brett/Lacto complexity; nice bready malt backbone and oak presence. Feels like more of a sour red overall, but not too sweet. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draft. Cardamom, plum, malt, and straw aroma. Cloudy pink/orange with small head (looks like pink grapefruit juice). Moderately sweet cardamom, plum, malt, and lightly bitter hay flavor. Nice balance. Very pleasant.
