An English Dark Mild Ale with a rich brown color and a tantalizing mocha laced aroma. The overall body is lighter than it appears, yet robust flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel are prevalent, but not overly sweet. The finish is pleasantly clean with a slight black coffee-like bitterness. *specialty grains have been roasted and kilned for longer periods of time at higher temperatures, so they have less overall fermentable sugars, but play a bigger role in adding residual sugars for flavor and have an increased effect on color.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 1/6/2014. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big chocolate, biscuit, toast, brown bread, roast, light coffee, raisin, pear, light nuttiness, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, toast, dark bread, roast, light coffee, biscuit, raisin, pear, light nuttiness, herbal, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, dark bread, toast, biscuit, roast, light coffee, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; with good robustness for the ABV and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a smooth, bready, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present as expected of 3.9%. Overall this is a damn nice dark mild ale! All around good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; nicely robust and extremely smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
