75cl bottle from Geers. Shared with Anke! Clear dark brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of red grape, plum, raisin, pear, red apple, toffee, wood, toast & jam. Taste has sweet raisin, pear & plum, mixing with sour grape & brambleberry, already a nice vinous effect with tannins against a malty backbone of jam, toffee & vague almond. Ends woody, herbal hoppy, lingering 'tannic' grapes, sweet-sour dried fruits and warming red wine-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Very delicately balanced, really nice take on the classic base beer.
Corked bottle. Deep dark brown color. Soft roast, caramel and vinous notes in the aroma. Malty sweet soft roasty flavor. Herbal and vinous. Caramel. These Pinot noir barrels really suit the base beer.
19/XI/19 - 75cl bottle @ HoReCa-Expo Gent, BB: 12/VIII/23 - (2019-1838) Thanks to the brewers and the Ghent Beer Posse for sharing today’s beers!
Clear amber to rusty red beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty fruity, cherry notes, dusty, lots of nail polish, paint thinner, malty, chemical, glue. Ooh, that’ not too good… MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of red wine, pretty bitter, lots of tannins, dry, little acidic, spicy touch. Aftertaste: lots of red wine, pretty bitter, tannins, some solvent. Not a big fan of this years edition, not at all…
