Black with a small beige head. Aroma of big coffee with nutty hazelnut, roast, vanilla, cold brew, dark malt, dark chocolate and caramel. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. Light full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle shared at tasting. Opaque black color, average sized brown colored head. Aroma is malts, hazelnut and coffee. Flavor is malts, light coffee, sourness, definitely an infection. Chocolate and espresso in the aroma gets blown away by that infection in the flavor. Sucks. Could have been great.

The Aromas are stinky cheese, vanilla, dark malt. Flavors are similar to nose with the stinky cheese tapering a little some roast coming out also hints of black patent. Sweet up front with a little bitter in the back. The stinky cheese putridity is a real liability here. Good body and okay finish.

9300th review! 22 ounce bottle into snifter; release #1, bottled in 10/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Dense spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, hazelnuts, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/black/bready malts, coffee, hazelnuts, vanilla, cocoa nibs, whiskey barrels, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, hazelnuts, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, charred, coffee bitterness; and whiskey/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, hazelnuts, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, dark bread/crust, coconut, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/black/bready malts, coffee, hazelnuts, vanilla, cocoa nibs, whiskey barrels, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet and whiskey/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness and whiskey/oak tannin spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, fairly sticky/chalky/tannic, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 10.1%, with minimal lingering barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged flavored imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/black/bready malts, coffee, hazelnuts, vanilla, cocoa nibs, whiskey barrels, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mellowly bitter/charred/tannic/drying finish. Great soft/silky feel, and not overly bitter/charred/tannic. Fantastic balance of super rich malts, coffee, cocoa, hazelnuts, and whiskey barrel presence/integration. Solid earthy hops and mild fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering bitter/charred/tannic dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding spot on style example. Another fantastic variant as expected. Not nearly as impressive as the Base, Multi-barreled, or Baptista; but well worth picking up another for the price.
