404 ml nitro can into chalice, best before 3/28/2019. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger dense and creamy cream colored head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape, date, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of peppercorn, clove, roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roast malts, fruity/spicy yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape, date, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of peppercorn, clove, roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/floral/grassy bitterness and peppery yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape, date, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, peppercorn, clove, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roast malts, fruity/spicy yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Light carbonation and medium-plus body; very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.9%. Overall this is an awesome dubbel! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roast malts, fruity/spicy yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the lightly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Awesome balanced rich malts and fruity/spicy yeast complexity; with mild earthy hop presence/balance. A really enjoyable offering and spot on style example; despite the lack of the usual zippy carbonation because of nitro.
