After hand-picking all the pumpkins we needed to craft Pumpkin Patch Ale, we realized just how many additional pumpkins we still had clinging to their vines on the farm.
The last thing we wanted to do was waste them, especially after all the work and patience that goes into growing them.
So, instead of dooming our pumpkins to a long, lonely life as canned puree, or worse yet, watching them slowing rot on the vine, we made the decision to save them and brew a spring pumpkin beer.
Since pumpkin beers come out earlier and earlier every year anyways, we introduce Rogue Farms PUMPKIN SAVIOR - a spring pumpkin wit brewed with real, Rogue-grown pumpkins and wheat.

Bottle: Orange-amber with a thick, off-white head. Nutmeg, pumpkin scent. Flavour is pumpkin, nutmeg, caramel malt. A nice, light bodied pumpkin ale......that’s not overblown and heavy-handed. Very tasty....crisp and light enough to enjoy even in the opposite season we’re used to.....very good.

750 ml bottle into signature pint glass, Spring 2015 bottling. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of pumpkin, pear, apple, light banana, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger, light vanilla, herbal, grass, and yeast/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, pumpkin/spices, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big pumpkin, pear, apple, light banana, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger, light vanilla, herbal, grass, and yeast/spice earthiness. Light herbal spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, pear, apple, light banana, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger, herbal, grass, and yeast/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast, pumpkin/spices, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice pumpkin witbier. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, pumpkin/spices, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
