Bretta Sang was brewed in collaboration with our friend and brewer Troy Meier. This sour ale is an exploration into pairing the bold flavors of Blood Oranges with the fermentation characteristics of select Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus strains. This ale was fermented in and aged in French Oak Puncheons for 10 months before being naturally conditioned in the bottle.

Thanks! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ Samson en Geert bierproeverij. Clear golden, basically no head. Nose is dirty grape, mineral, bit metalic, blood orange. Taste is metallic, yoghurt, grape yoghurt, blood orange,… Body is yoghurt. Not bad but touch too yoghurt, metallic to be optimal.

Draught at CBC 2016, Green session. Hazy golden body, patchy white head, spotty lacing. Citrus nose, woody. Sappy fruit and gooseberry taste sustained by brett towards the ending. Fine bodied. Decent thirst quencher (Copenhagen 14.05.2016).

750mL capped bottle, Blend #1, shared by Dice. Thick orange color, can’t see through it. Aroma is brett and tang, a little sweet biscuit malt, sour warhead candy. Flavor is surprisingly less sour and not thinned out like I though it would the with the aroma. Tart, light orange juice, thick malt backbone with a light sour kick at the end of th flavor. Cool stuff, a lot happening, I’d like a more centered beer but it’s good.
