Gose with peach and a small portion of blood orange, at Dok Brewing Festival; ABV given there was 2.2% rather than the 2.7% shown here but I guess 0.5% difference doesn’t make this another beer according to this website’s general guidelines. Mousy but opening, off-white, bit bubbly and thinnish head on a hazy apricot blonde beer. Aroma bursts with sweet ripe peaches (even peach jam and peaches in syrup from a can) and sweet blood orange, with the orange effect emanating a brightness and ‘sunniness’ I’ve rarely seen in a beer, over more basic notes of pineapple, cream, chalk, peppermint leaf, dough, salted tomato flesh. Very sweet overall, peach jam and blood orange lemonade throughout, with the fructose sugariness from the fruit overpowering most other flavours initially, even if a very light salty ‘Goseness’ is still present; tropical fruit mix lemonade continues well into the finish, softly carbonated on a wheaty-soapy base and with – next to the overdose of sweet ripe peach and blood orange – impressions of pineapple, maracuja and lime as well. Proportionally full-bodied for this low an ABV, filled to the brim with bright, ‘orange-yellow’ fruitiness and fruit sweetness to the point where it tastes more like lemonade than anything Gose-related, we cannot be further removed from what Gose originally was – this is the periphery of what still qualifies as ‘beer’, and even if things like this are not my personal cup of tea (I’ll have an actual tropical fruit lemonade if I want one), there is no doubt that this is again an artistic Totem idea achieving its own goal perfectly, so have an extra point for that alone.

@ Dok Brewing Festival 2019. Hazy milky yellow colour, incredibly fruity nose (lots of peach, lemon, oranges). Taste is sweet, tart and fruity. Great for this ABV.

28 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, 77ships & tderoeck! Hazy ochre, no head. Strong aroma of fresh peach, yellow nectarine, pineapple, wheat, lemon zest, bread, pinch of salt. Taste is medium fruity sweet, lots of peach & nectarine, mixed into orange juice almost, sour touches of wheat, lemon & passionfruit, a bit salty, faint bitter stone fruit’s ‘stones’ & grass. Dryish, floral hoppy finish, lingering peach, wheat & bread. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Lovely fruity Gose, well done again by Totem.
