330ml bottle, probably from Dranken Geers. Pours a generally clear golden amber, large fluffy white head. Aroma veers towards the resinous chewy fruit / sweet malt end of things. Taste continues along similar lines, bitter herbal, candied fruit, pine, citrus, grapefruit with light underlying alcohol. Well rounded and drinkable.

33cl bottle, BB 01/2019.

13/06/2018 @home - 33cl bottle from a trade with tderoeck. Dark yellow, huge pearly white head. Nose is grains, some caramel, low fruit. Taste is grains, resinous, low fruit, medium bitter ending. Nothing outspoken but very solid beer however.

New Totem DIPA with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic and the far less known Azacca, a bittering hop developed in 2013 and already used by Founders, among others. Bottle at Kantien in Ghent. Very thick and creamy, egg-white, stable, frothy head over a hazy orange blonde beer. Aroma of fresh orange peel, toasted shallots, hard caramel candy, peanuts, whisky, blood orange, ripe banana, olive oil, warm toast, gin, paprika powder, Turkish delight. Sweet onset, ripe peach and even mandarin, white grapes, with a slight sourish edge; medium carbo, thick and supple body. Caramelly malt sweet body with some honeyish residual sugary sweetness, followed by a long, oily, mellowly bittering hop finish, releasing retronasal notes of tangerine, sweet shallot, unripe mango and a faint dash of lime juice; orangey sweetness remains the basic feature. A bit too sweet for a DIPA perhaps, I would not have minded a more old school West Coast hop bite, but this is of a remarkable drinkability and technically very well executed - the technical standard I came to expect from this brewing company. Always a pleasure to encounter a new Totem!

T: malty, orange, tangerine, mellow fruity, medium body and soft carbonation, even for last glass of the keg still very good. Thanks to Stijn. Sampled draft @ Brugs Bier Festival 2018. Last glass of the keg so not fully representative. Hazy orange, creamy white head. Nose is doughy, low yeast, pine resin bleding with the doughy malt, bread, low stone fruit hop. Taste is bit too yeasty but understandably so but still tasty great doughy mix with stone fruit hop, pine, pleasant doughy, hop doesn’t hop but nice creamy bready, hoppy, low resin. Tasty stuff even given the situation.

Clear orange beer, creamy yellow white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: funky, bit yeasty, citrus, fruity. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, resinous, some sweet malts, caramel, nice hops. Aftertaste: bitter, fruity, bit sweet, malty notes. Decent, but needs a rerate from bottle, as I understood this was the last of the keg from the day before.
