Tap @ MBCT Red Session. Deep purple pour with nice red pink foam around the edges. Nose has soft jam like character, blueberry jam by grandma that has an extra serving of funk. Tastes soft juicy and still full of blueberry. Mouthfeel is creamy soft and juicy. Definitely tasty just not sure I could identify this as a beer outside of a beer festival.
Tap at MBCT 2018 into a taster showing deep blueberry blue and sparse blueberry tinged foam The nose shows pronounced intense notes of blueberry. The palate is light bodied and fully carbonated. Higher end of moderate tartness and intensely fruit forward that it drinks more like blueberry juice. Mildly tannic with more blueberries towards the end.

The strong blueberry variation on Mikkeller’s Spontan theme, quite the hype considering its remarkably high score here so I'm glad I had a chance to taste it, from tap at Belgium Chimipalooza. Tightly lacing, foamy, beautifully and brightly lilac-coloured head over an equally beautiful, deep violet purple beer, hazy, very dark – quite a spectacular sight really. Aroma bursts with blueberry – fresh blueberries as well as effects of blueberry ice cream, forest fruit yoghurt, bread crumbs, ruby port, rosé wine, vague hints of sweat, marzipan and candyfloss. Crisp, sour onset, soft but extensive fruit sourness without becoming very puckering anywhere and softened by the natural fructose sweetness of the blueberries I suppose – blueberries which are present here to the extreme, no surprise seen the looks of this fascinating fruit beer. Thick, smooth, creamy body, lightened by sparkling lambrusco-like carbonation. Blueberry yoghurt effect remains the core of this beer, with sweaty Brett-ish notes and a light astringency of blueberry seeds and skins in the end, before the expected glow of port- and rum-like alcohol warmth sets in. This alcohol effect remains proportionally quite gentle, thanks to the extreme fullness of the fruit part; this beer feels like some concentrated blueberry syrup with a shot of red wine or port thrown in. I can imagine this being such a hit among young beer geek hipsters for its rather extreme character, but it is a bit of a one-trick pony as well and even if I enjoyed drinking this for one tasting glass only, it has not been able to abandon idea of years that this Spontan series, originally intended as a lambic imitation, still lacks considerable depth, finesse and complexity compared with the ‘real thing’. Unique and amusingly gimmicky though, so the extra points I give here are for sheer visual beauty and intensity.
Thnx to Thomas ! Epic handbottle right there ! Pours dark purple, nearly black in the glass. Smell is extremely fruit forward, thick, bit boozy, tart, still, but all is a sidenote to the overyl fruity scent. Taste is thick, tart, dry, funky, very, very fruity, it really dries up the mouth completely by the amount of fruity, fermented sweetness this one has. This is an extreme beverage in every way. Alcohol shows, but it's not too boozy. Complexity, depth, and balance are words that are, of course, lost to this drink. But if you like to blow up your tastebuts with blueberry, just drink this !
