Sampled @ Ratebeer Belgian Summer Gathering 2016. Opaque black color, full sized light brown head. Smell and taste malts, lightly earthy, cocos / coconut, sweet and bitter at the same time. Medium to full body and carbonation. Useful eisbock.
Thnx to the Brewers. Pours black. Good grey head. Smell is pure, cocoa dark malts. Taste is very creamy. Full, chocolaty. Dark malts tad sweet, ad it should be.
Thanks Klaas for the sample.
Tasted at GBF. Totem’s new take on the modern Eisbock theme, very limitedly produced and flavored with ingredients intended to mimic Bounty candy bars, I assume... Very thin layer of pale beige foam, very dark mahogany robe, blackish in general appearance. Evidently strong aroma of caramel, vanilla, chocolate liqueur, roasted peanuts but little of the coconut is left. Dried fruit sweetness in the mouth, caramelly and nutty malts, sweet with bittering finish, oily and thick, vanilla retronasally but again, coconut is practically unnoticeable; big wave of alcohol warmth in the finish, but not anywhere near most other beers of this kind of ABV and less syrupy as well so in that sense a great achievement from a technical point of view - treacherously high drinkability, let’s say. Too bad the coconut didn’t really come through, that would have proved interesting...
Draught Dwindling cream head over jet-black beer. Coffee (but from yesterdays’ breakfast), chocolate, coffeebeans, human sweat, peanuts. Coffee, chocolate, mocha, vanilla, cacaomilk. Very pappy, sticky, full-bodied, even buttery feel. Bit disappointing seen Klaas’ usual excellence.
Thank you for sharing! Sampled twice draft @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. Dark brown going to black, little tanned head. Nose is thick chocolate paste, low pecan, sweet cheap coffee, syrup, mocha,…. Taste is massive thick chocolate past above everything, low artificial chocolate paste taste, low nuts, vanilla is vague, light umami note, touch vanilla but nowhere as much as I expected, faintest touch warming,… Neither taste nor body (although substantial enough) betray the actual ABV. Good but I would have liked it more if I had not read the ingredients prior to tasting it, I didn’t get the peanut & coconut unfortunately.

19/VIII/16 - on tap @ setup Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2016-861) Thanks to Klaas for my "prima nocta" glass!
Note: I guess I'm on the edge of being classified as prejudiced taster, right? Well, come and taste this one yourself. :p
Pitch black beer, big creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive, lots of small coconut chunks in the glass, floating atop the beer. Aroma: lots of coconut, lots of chocolate, some coffee, mocha, soft roast, sweet. MF: no carbon, full body. Taste: sweet, caramel, lots of coconut, dark chocolate, some coffee, little bitter, cocoa powder, vanilla. Aftertaste: alcohol, hoppy, coffee, caramel, lots of chocolate, coconut, coffee. Wow, what a flavour bomb.
