Bottle, thanks Benzai!. Almost black, opague. Malt, roast, licorice and red peppers in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty flavor, with licorice and an upcoming, but still subtle red paper flavor. Thinnish, slightly alcoholic. Well made.
Bottle, aged, from Tderoeck. Lovely nose of vanilla, chocolate, cream, maybe some spicy rye and a touch of chili. Very dark brown with lace. Sweet chocolate, vanilla, cafe au lait, chili peppers, spicy rye in the background. Also black berries, raisins, and a touch of soy sauce. Peppers do not burn, but give a nice prickly, peppery finish to it. A bit too sweet. Good stuff, and fine use of chilis.
0.33 l bottle at ’Uncle Babe’s Burger Bar’. Pitch black with a medium large, fluffy, rather quickly diminishing, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some hazelnut and licorice. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, a bit of hazelnut and hints of oak, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, minimally oaky and slightly peppery finish. Medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Nice one, a bit too much carbonation though. The subtle tones of pepper give it a nice twist!
Bottle (from belgiuminabox). Pours dark brown-black. Aroma is smoke, roast, malt, slight alcohol. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, dark chocolate, malt. Finish is roast bitter with some chili heat. Overall: very nice.
Bitter trockener Malzantrunk. Wenig bitter, erhöhte Karbonisierung. Rund malzig, leicht scharfer Hintergrund. Gelungen. 9/8/9/9//9
Black color with small tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, spicy chili, coffee, slightly metallic. Taste is spicy chili, roasted malts. Full-bodied, high carbonation. Good
33cl Bottle shared at the Shrewsbury Beer Exchange meeting on 17th Feb 2016: thanks me for taking it (bought in De Bierboom, Brugge). Black bodied brew, the head a tanned foaming cap. Smoky warmth from this well crafted beer, really liked the chilli bite and smoked wood like taste, might have even found some of the Red Wine esters within the smoky aroma, but that could be ’wishful thinking’ on my part.
