Our fruited sour was spontaneously fermented in our coolship and blended with New York Rougeon grapes. The winter of 2016 gave Champ Rouge a long, cold and slow fermentation.

Bottle at GABF. Pours a dark copper ruby with small pink head that lasts. The aroma is grape skin, wood, funk, earth. Slick body, funky, oak, grape must, nice tartness, very good.

Very deep inky purple color. No head. Nice oaky nose with good tartness and excellent grape and raspberry character. Bone dry, light, big oak character, in fact the oak is a bit too much, as well as being too dry. Dry finish, the fruit is a bit too restrained and is held back because it’s so dry. Decent but not mind blowing. Alcohol well hidden

Taster showing very dark blue and purple with purple tinged foam. The nose shows moderately intense notes of brett and light plums and cherries. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Moderately intense notes of brett and subtle tones of plums and cherries.
