Cask @ the brewpub for Sunday breakfast. It actually looked more like a nitro pour with a thick go-nowhere head, like its a 3/4 inch layer of snow. This sits on top of a dark brown body, dark enough to make it not totally clear. Aroma is strong, surprisingly, with a delicious blend of aromas. It starts mainly with a caramel brownie then light roast malts behind it. Oh so delicious, especially for breakfast, just in the beginning. Right there, I made a double take to make sure I am drinking a Mild and was already highly impressed by the aroma. As the beer sits and I get to sniff it further, a nuttiness emerges as well as a light caramel fruitiness. These aspects put it over the top into a "10" for me, which is very rare. Taste chugs right along with a little more woodsy and roasted malts with just a hint of hops at the end. It is all so perfect for a mild, flavors are there but there are not obtrusive and all melding well for a great concoction. The body is smooth as advertised, almost a combination of cask and nitro. Its thick, lightly undercarbonated, just feels soft on the tongue and then fades away into nothingness. I can’t believe I was so bowled over by this and will definitely return for just this beer.
