The most used names for this kind of beer around the world are Pils, Pilsener or Bohemian Pilsener. Because of the laws in Czech we cannot use any of these names, so we simply call our beer special Svetle (light) beer. It is the most widespread type of beer in the world.

Bottled. Slightly hazy yellowish golden colour with a mediumsized white head. Aroma is grass, herbs, some citrus, mild floral tones as well as some earthy and mild spruce. Flavour is bready, some mild toffee, grassy bitterness along with some slight floral and herbal tones. Crisp!

Tap at Dva Kohoutí. Misty golden body, white head. Lean herbal hoppy aroma, classic Czech maltiness underneath, and the taste follows suit. Lean, quite drinkable, enjoyable herbal hoppiness, genuinely nice and drinkable. This used to be a far better, complex review, but, unsurprisingly, the app deleted it when I pressed Save. Again, a friendly eat shit and die to everyone who decided that offline rating/autosaving is a low priority feature.

0.75 l bottle shared with lovely Anja and the shopkeeper at the Beer Geek shop, Prague. Clear pale golden with diminishing white head. Some acidity, covers the grain aroma. Slightly out of style. Light hoppy, malty background, some wine hints. Light finish. Medium carbonation, light body. Strange, but not bad.

Hazy golden color. white head that dissipates fairly quickly. very big herbal nose with excellent grassy hops. The mouth is very well balanced with moderately aggressive hops and a lingering herbal finish. Beautifully executed.

Hazy blond body with an off-white head. Aroma of smoke but rather one dimensional. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour. Quite ok. Not too bad.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to JorisPPattyn – hazy golden with a fluffy white head, smells floral, countryside hops, soft white bread, taste on the other hand doesn’t have the countryside hops, lots of yeast, soft white bread, grains, fizzy, strange herbal/floral-like component, bitter aftertaste, dry hops, touch fruity & leaning to sweet but non-sweet upfront, light, above medium carbonation, interesting & very nice
