Back in the 16th and 17th centuries travellers took their lives in their own hands travelling in the Derbyshire Peak District as highwaymen ruled the pathways - the most famous of all robbers being Black Harry. The area that Black Harry operated in sits close to Thornbridge Hall and in safer times the area has become a place of recreation for walkers, horse riders and mountain biking. The Black Harry Trails project has just been completed to upgrade and improve these routes for users and in doing so increase recreation opportunities for the less able, elderly and those with young families. To commemorate this work being completed Thornbridge have brewed Black Harry a dark, fruity ale.

On tap @ Borefts 2012. Dark brown in color with a small quickly sidesticking little off-white top. Smell is not extreme. I get tones of tuna and yeasty wet hay. Bah. Not to good really. As good as flat on the carbonation with a light watery mouthfeel. Not so bad in the taste, cause there is not really all that much of it. Some light biscuits with thin chocolate and not really anything else. Drinkable, but a bit dull, and no favorite. 28.09.2012

Cask @ Borefts 2012. Black with nearly no head. Smell is rather weird mellow sweet roast blended with some berries, lactose, dark fruits and tad bread. Sweet, lightly watery with citrus, fruity, white grapes hops, burned malts, light roast, some sweet mocha, lightly burned bread, dark berries. Somewhat watery - rather peculiar mate.

Cask at Borefts. Murky dark. Rown, bright tan head. Aroma of subtle lemon lime. Taste is bitter dilute toffee. Thin body. Not my favorite, but I’d like to try the adult version.
