440ml can kindly shared by Finn. A beige-reddish head over a near-black body, fair lacing. Lightly roasted aromas, hints of berry skins and fruit. Mixed taste of blueberries, dark fruits, and biscuit. Mid-sweet berry-fruity finish. Medium bodied. Likable. (Tromsø 29.04.2021).

The second one in a row of 'breakfast stouts' by this Yorkshire craft brewer, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Mousy, mocha-beige, creamy, stable head, black robe with thin mahogany edges. Aroma of Ersatz chocolate ('koetjesreep' and the like) much more than actual waffles, Pepsi cola, lots of haemoglobin-like iron, blueberry jam and blueberry crumble, toasted walnut, kahlua, treacle, sirop de Liège, cinnamon, granola hint. Sweet onset but not cloying - contrary to what I was expecting - with a clear sourish undertone attributable to the blueberries here, providing a kind of candied-sweet, indeed 'breakfasty' fruity tone over hints of dried fig and ripe pear; medium carb, slick and oily body. Toffeeish malt core, Ersatz chocolate and pecan nut too, smooth with this blueberry fruitiness continuing though adding only very faint sourishness - and in fact much more outspoken sweetness, as in blueberry jam. Still, this effect remains on the subtle side, certainly when bubblegummy and candyfloss-like aspects become more outspoken, reminiscent of Haribo's classic 'Coke bottles' candy. Some peppery hops are noticeable in the background, while a slight astringency lingers, possibly coming from the blueberries, but in a dull and understated way. Quite restrained, in all, at least compared to the effects it promises - a decent pastry stout, but lacking in exuberance and 'decadence' for the style. Rather forgettable, if you ask me.
Can: Poured with a blue red huge, but quickly turned dark brown to black with a light brown lacing head. Aroma is fruity blueberry, roasty rich malt, some sweetness. Taste is chocolate, milky, fruity blueberry, malty.
440ml can from Tesco. Poured a clear reddish brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is big doughnut, pastry, sugar and blueberries. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, light roasty, light tart blueberry palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
