Bottle at home, dark golden beer, small head. Aroma is yeast, esters, malt. Taste is the same, alcohol, sweet, fruit, esters, yeast. Classic belgian triple but quite boozy.
Lemon, musty yeast, biscuit malt, and hay aroma. Hazy golden yellow with giant white head. Mildly sweet lemon, musty yeast, biscuit malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Very nice.
Aromas are yeast, fruit, wine, malt, spice, and a little bread. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, leaning sweet, wine comes out a little more but with enough bitter and twice fermented Belgian style carbonation. Excellent body and balanced finish. Super good beer.
Bottle from Beer Gonzo and day 16 of my 2020 advent calendar. Lightly hazed golden colour with a thick white head. Aroma and taste sweet malty, dried fruit and yeasty.
From tap @ Staminee de Garre in Brugge (visited 30/11/2019). F: huge, white, extremely long lasting. C: deep gold, light hazy. A: rich malty, mellow fruity, honey, spicy, orange peels, banana, bit yeasty, quite nice. T: very sweet malty, spicy, yeasty, honey, banana, not as sweet as I expected, good balanced harmonic bitterness, bit straightforward yet tasty and location makes this almost great, soft carbonation, fully enjoyed.
Draft at Jessops. Lightly cloudy golden, huge rocky head. Buttery, grainy, yeasty aroma. Full mouthfeel, smooth. Sweet, savory, buttery notes. Truly wonderful.
22 December 2018. De Garre, Bruges. Cheers to Madoc! Finally rated the house beer of De Garre, located in 'de Garre van Kornee', one of the narrowest alleys in my hometown, after I discovered I still hadn't yet. Pours clear golden to orange with a big, lasting, frothy, white head; lots of lacing. Looks dashing. Aroma of white pepper, white bread, yeast, yellow apple, canned peach, pineapple, some white cabbage (but not overly DMS-like to me). Taste is medium fruity sweet, hints of pineapple & peach on a malty white bread basis, rendering a yeasty effect too. Light to medium spicy bitter then, white pepper, faint clove, somewhat phenolic & typically Van Steenberge in that aspect; sourish lemon or wheat in the back. Dry, peppery & grassy hoppy finish, lingering yeast, bread, phenolic again, finally some warming jenever alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Good stuff but not very sophisticated; surprised to see it's in the top 50 of Abbey Tripels... Probably says more about the style, then?
Draft @ De Garre, Bruges. Pours gold, good white head. Was told this was a blonde so wasnt expecting such a strong tripel character. Nose dips straight into spicy sweet tripel territory, continuing to taste, indulgently sweet with a gentle spice. Well rounded, comforting tripel.
Magnum shared by friends, thanks! Clear golden with big creamy white head. Spicy yeast, creamy malts, thick sugary creamy stuff, quite fruity with apricot and orange, light coriander, old grass, light alcohol, bitter citrus peel, quite bready too. Over medium sweet and bitter. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Quite nice indeed, a bit like tripel Karmeliet.
