American Porter Aged in Bourbon Barrels

This is the bourbon barrel aged version of Everett (1908- 1939), our grandfather’s brother, as well as the name of our American porter. In his honor, we aged this ale in select bourbon barrels for 20-plus months. The beer rested contentedly, absorbing and harmonizing with all that the oak had to offer, taking on the complex characters of the spirit and reflecting that which we remember best of our great uncle.

2014 edition. Pours black, small tanned head. Smell is roasty, full, biscuit, bourbon. Mild soy sauce. Umami. Taste is full, thick, bit sharp. Shows mild, acceptable age. Almost a tad tart trough its roastyness. Bourbon in the back, mild carbo, sticky ending. Mild boozyness. Very good, still. Bit soy sauce in the finish.

Weicher, intensiv malziger Antrunk. Sofortig schokoladig, mild herb, trockene Holznoten, Bourbon. Weich karbonisiert, vollmundig. Die Schokoladennoten nehmen noch zu, etwas Espresso. Geringe Süße, zum Ende minimal alkoholisch. Mehr oder weniger perfekt. 12/14/13/14/13/14

Tasty and very complex. Very balanced between the base beer and barrel. A treat only bugged by the light green chili in the nose.
