Op tap bij NHBF'21. Zwart, beige kraag. Gebrande mout, koffie, cacao, vrij droog, niet te zoet, degelijke RIS. Medium body.
Black with a small tan head. Aroma of massive cocoa, chocolate milkshake powder, vanilla, chocolate brownies, double chocolate cookies and light lactose. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium to light full bodied with soft carbonation.
14th September 2020, Shrewsbury Beer Share gathering with Syrian Supper in Chez Sophie, five in attendance. Cheers Mike for the 33cl bottle of this very pleasant brew. Black bodied with a decent tanned topping. As the name suggests chocolate rules the beer aroma and taste wise, some coffee esters and flavours too, nice!
0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaalbierpakket.nl', best before July 2021. Clear, very dark brown to black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee and hazelnut. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter and gently roasty taste of milk chocolate, coffee, hazelnut, licorice and hints of vanilla, followed by a short, gently roasty-bitter finish with a touch of booze. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. I didn't expect that much but it's actually a decent Stout. Maybe a little harsh in the finish and a bit monotonous but overall well drinkable.
330ml bottle from De Moersleutel website. Deep black appearance, good beige head. Lots of sediment settling to the bottom. Prominent chocolatey aroma. Taste has rich initial impressions, good dark chocolate, coffee hints, but a little too rich with metallic hints, dark grainy malts. Quite flavoursome, has its initial moments but becomes way too unbalanced and harsh.
