Bottle. Murky dark brown color. Roast, yeast and hints of grassy hops in the aroma. Roast dominates in the flavor, giving only limited room for the hops, that have faded somewhat in the maturing period. Powerful beer. Dry with hints of tartness. Quite likeable.
Bottle 330ml. [ As Berghoeve Brewlab Series 1401 Black & Tan ].Clear medium to dark red brown color with a large to huge, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark malt, tart malt, moderate yeasty, dark fruit - plum. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, sweet malt, peppery, dark malt, weird. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - lively.
Bottle thanks to @Bierkoning, bedankt Edo ! --- Beer merged from original tick of Brewlab Series 1401 Black & Tan on 18 May 2018 at 11:18 - Score: 7
Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is yeast, cherries, light malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big yeast, malt bitter, light spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
Bottle. Almost black with nice full beige head. Spicy yeast up front with a nice kick of red fruits. Roasted grains and some chocolate. Lots of spices I can't put my finger on, some a bit musty but also a fresh herbal hoppy finish with light citrus. Full carbonation. I quite like this mix, everything works well together here.
Bottle. Dark, lively white head. Aroma is a mix of malt and sourness. Taste of roasted malt, licorice and some crispy coffee. Nice soft aftertaste. Mostly stout, hard to taste the tripel. Fails as a black & tan, but succeeds as a decent stout.
33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Color is as good as black. Beige/grey head, not too much, but reasonable retention. Aroma’s: sweetish, light roasted, light drop/licorice, slightly herbal. Flavor is moderate sweet, somewhat roasted, light bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes roasted, droppig, light bitter. Nice experiment, but not sure that this blend it adds a lot.
33cl bottle from ABCBeers/Berghoeve. Thick off white head. Lots of carbonation. Clear deep burgundy pour. Some chocolate and bitterness. Nice blend
Bottle @ Midlaren holiday. Black colour with a large beige to light brown head. Smells roasty, lots of liquorice, tar and some iron. Tastes liquorice, roasty, tar, coal, ash, a hint of chocolate. Pretty nice, but i’m not a fan of liquorice taste in beer. Medium to full body, a bit too much carbo for this type of beer imo.
Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub Berghoeve Tap Takeover. Thanks for sharing Erwin! Very dark brown to black color with a slight reddish hue coming through, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is malts, sweetness, a bit floral. Taste malts, a touch of herbs or spices, yeasty, a bit sweetish again. Medium body and carbonation. Decent, but imo this is not something that should replace one of the other beers in the standard assortment.
