EB Quintessence Trip April 16-19. Very phenolic smokey or perhaps even smoked…
Unclear golden with some bubbles. Sweet apples, caramels, syruppy, thick with sugars, funky, mild sour, nice complexity, tannins, twigs, cork. Over medium body and low carb. Funky ice cider blend.
Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Almost clear deep amber with no head. Soft caramel, sweet apple, lots of dried apple, apricot, orange peel, dank funk, vanilla oak, soft brandy. Medium sweet, light bitter. Over medium bodied, quite dry finish, low carbonation. Lovely, again.
Caramelised pears. Drinks smooth and silky. Oak. Definitely one of the best perries which I have had. Superb.
Sweet, apples, soft, juicy, great stuff after the sharp voodoo, soft carbo, smooth stuff, no sulphur off flavors...
Bottle at Tom Oliver session of Manchester Beer and Cider Festival: Poured a clear copper with no head. Aroma is some vinegar, apples. Taste is semi sweet with sharp apples, very sherry, booze.
75cl bottle from Scrattings,. Pours a deep misty gold, aroma is sweet funk. Taste is fairly rich, alcoholic, thick on the palate, dusty funk.. A little harsh, low carbonation.. Bit odd really.. Not sure about this one. Lacks the harmony I usually get with Olivers.
750ml bottle from Brew Cavern. Very slightly hazed orangey gold colour, short-lived fizzy white foam head and aroma of fruity apple, light funk, earthy, dried fruits. Taste is sweetish, orchardy, apple, juicy, tart, some core and skin, aged barrel, sherry, leathery funky, dried fruits, wine, oaky woody, along with mellow soft tannin. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, drying tangy tart tannic finish. Well balanced and complex, outstanding blend and very drinkable.
