Bottle at Open Beer Days. Pours a cloudy purple with small pinkish head. The aroma is grape skin, funk, oak. Slick body, grape must, oak, strong funk, dry finish, very good.

Druif has a better pairing of beer and wine than those of the "rood sap" , wine is less dominating

Another grape lambic – with actual grapes being used rather than wine most – in the latest string of ‘Spelingen van het Lot’, the ongoing search for new lambic shapes and forms that has been conducted at 3 Fonteinen for several years now. Pale lilac-coloured, open, mousy ring on a deep burgundy-hued purple robe with ‘wine red’ edges. Aroma of a full-bodied red wine, cream, cassis, actual grape juice in concentrated form, walnut butter, grass silage, hay. Extremely grapey in the onset, sour lemony effects as well but countered by sweet grape (and ripe berry-like) impressions, softish carb, vinous and smooth, even somewhat buttery-creamy mouthfeel; grape juiciness fills the entire structure of this beer and even overshadows the actual lambic features a bit, much like in the “Rood Sap”-version, but this one is just a tad less wine-like in having retained more underlying lambic sourness and funkiness. Perhaps too wine-like, like the “Rood Sap”, but in any case a bold, daring and challenging beverage holding the middle between red wine and (spontaneously fermented) beer. Intellectually fascinating fruit lambic, that much is clear.

Pours dark red purple, no head. More unclear than the X.v. Smell is very intensely grape forward. Taste is acidic ( mildly L which showcases more lambic than the x. V. Good, but still to wine forward to me.

Bottle shared at 3F. Clear deep ruby to purple with small ring of dark pink bubbles. Red wine, dry red grapes, soft tannins, soft oak, light cellar funk though it’s a bit in the background, blackberries, cassis, spicy grapes, dry green leaves. Light sweet, sour and bitter. Almost full bodied low carbonation. Close to wine but quite nice.
