Stout brewed with Chocolate and Raspberries

A rich and robust stout serves as the foundation for this decadent dessert beer. Raspberries lend a tart and refreshing sweetness while the addition of dark chocolate takes it to an indulgent level. Big, yet balanced, Big Luscious is perfect for sharing with friends and family. Or you can keep it all to yourself. We won’t tell.

Bottled. Deep brownish black colour with a beigeish brown head. Aroma is mild raspberries, some liquorice, cocoa, chocolate and mild roasted notes to it. Flavour is raspberry with some roast, mild liquorice, some milky notes as well as some toffee and mild cocoa and chocolate.Beautifully balanced and a couple of years has really made this one smooth.

355ml bottle at the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, big, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, big raspberries. This beer is all about the raspberries whatever the commercial description might say. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, roasty, tart raspberry, light dark chocolate palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Did I mention it was all about the raspberries?

Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Cloudy dark brown, small, foamy, dark beige head. Luscious aroma of maraschino cherry, chocolate praliné with raspberry filling, liqueur, raspberry coulis, fudge, marzipan, almond, biscuit, sweet mocha. Taste has sweet cherry, raspberry, vague strawberry in a chocolatey body with fudge & almond aspects. Soft toasty middle. Ends malty with low earthy hops, dark chocolate, raspberry coulis & soft Maraschino alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Certainly on the sweet side but lovely.

355 ml bottle. Murky dark brown black with a mocha creamy head. Loads of raspberry syrup and chocolate cake, lemon peel, red currant, toasted malt, metallic hops, a bit of roasted coffee beans. Fruity chocolaty sweetness, with a dry hoppy citrussy bitterness, even slightly sour from the raspberries. Full bodied, oily creamy texture, soft carbonated, dry bittersweet fruity finish. Brilliant!
