23/VI/22 - 33cl can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ home, BB: 19/VIII/30, 19082015.26 (2022-776)
Clear dark brown to black beer, practically no head. Aroma: wow, lots of alcohol, pretty oxidized, good dark roast, sweet, some Amaretto, malty. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sweet and sugary start, lots of alcohol, some chocolate, vanilla, lots of caramel, more alcohol. Aftertaste: sweet and sugary, alcohol, lots of chocolate, moderate bitterness in the finish.
Pours black, no real head. Scent is roasty, sweet. Doesn't show the specific ingredients, but has a nice complete feel to it nevertheless. Taste is very full, intense, thick, low carbo. Chocolate. Nice alcohol warmth, not being boozy. All the elements blend into a wholesome totality. None of them are to be recognized on their own, which is a perfect example of balance, though balance is not what you'd expect in this type of beer. Impressive stuff, thats for sure !
0,33l can at Sanders place, shared by Sander, big thanks. BB 19.08.2030. black color, small coffee colored head. smells maple, cinnamon, fudgy, berrry notes, coconut, hints of bourbon. wow, amazing smell. full body, no carbonation. tastes of coconut, bourbon, vanilla, subtle sweetness, cinnamon, marzipan, nutty, fudgy, light berry notes, cream, subtle lactose. finishes lightly sweet with notes of cinnamon, coconut and some fudgy notes. wowy, lovely lovely beer, super balance, gets a bit heavy when warm, but overall its just lovely.
330ml can. Almost black with a thin brown head disappearing quickly. Aroma of chocolate, maple, bourbon. Taste is very rich, sweet, massive chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla, coffee, subtle coconut, bourbon, warming alcohol (doesn't taste anywhere close to the 16% though!), no bitterness at all. Full bodied, smooth. Really can't criticise anything with this stout. Lervig's other recent BA releases were all overwhelmingly barrely, but in this one you can still taste all the base flavours. And it's incredible.
Süßer, starkmalziger Beginn. Viel Kakao, moderate Herbe, würzig schokoladig. Alkoholischer Mittelteil, süß, was aber gut ins Bild passt. Würzig, fast zuckrig, Noten von Vanille, erstaunlich hohe Süffigkeit. Trockener, malzig würziger Abgang. 10/13/12/13//13
0.33 l can from 'Craftbeerrockstars.de', best before August 2030. Black with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, brown head. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently roasty and just a little boozy aroma of praline, molasses, coffee, tobacco, caramel fudge, vanilla and a touch of bourbon. Heavily sweet, malty, gently roasty taste of praline, caramel fudge, coffee, vanilla, hazelnut, maple and hints of bourbon, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, a little boozy finish. Full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, almost flat. I can't believe this has got 16% abv, it's neither overly thick nor boozy. The barrel is hardly detectable, but the flavours of the base beer are already insanely intense. It's super sweet, yet quite complex and quaffable. I like it a lot, even though a but less of the sweetness would be appreciated.
