Can from Geers. Hazy yellow, stable, foamy, white head. Aroma of white pepper, lime, mandarin peel, melon, lychee, pineapple, yellow grapefruit. Taste has sweetish dank pineapple, melon & mandarin, accompanied by sourish zesty lime & carambola, a bit bitter spicy-yeasty in the middle with a doughy, almost tangibly 'oaty' malt body. Earthy hoppy finish, dry & grapefruity yet quite zesty too, well balanced by dank fruit & spicy yeast. Medium body, slick-creamy texture, soft carbonation. Good NEIPA, steering away from heavy juiciness and putting hop freshness at the centre.
33cl can from Bierwinkel De Hopduvel in Gent. F: thin, white. C: pale gold, milky hazy. A: orange, passion fruits, bit roasted onion, banana, pineapple, bit lactic. T: medium malty base, orange, grapefruits, lactic, pine resin, bit onion effect, pineapple, decent long lasting bitterness, very dry on the palate, nice fresh fruity feeling, fully enjoyed.
New hazy IPA by Totem hopped with Galaxy, can bought at Dok Brewing Company in Ghent. Thinnish and immediately open, egg-white, lightly lacing head on a cloudy straw blonde beer with apricot tinge. Luscious aroma of yellow kiwi, sugared lime, passionfruit, stewed sweet onions, melon, ripe pineapple, pech, dough, vanilla and green banana. Crisp, fruity onset, hints of pineapple, kiwi, starfruit and passionfruit, softish in carbonation with soft, smooth mouthfeel; lovely doughy slickness in the middle, white-bready 'fluffy' maltiness under an exuberantly fruity hop aroma, teeming with exotic orchid, ripe pineapple, yellow kiwi and honeydew, along with a slight citrusy edge. The hops also - fortunately - effectuate a spicy, powdery, lingering end bitterness bringing balance to the whole, while the citric effect strengthens a bit in the end, adding a lime-like fraîcheur. Very expressive, colourful NEIPA, in which Galaxy is indeed the big star of the show; this one displays all the goodness Galaxy has to offer. Lovely beer.
