33cl bottle from Cora in Brussels. F: big, snow-white, average retention. C: yellowish, light hazy. A: malty, straw, apples, banana, bit pear, herbal touch. T: light malty base, banana, citrus, bit herbal, hay, pears, apples, bit bready, nice balanced bitterness, bit spicy, medium carbonation, good one, enjoyed.
Bottled. Yellowish golden colour with a foamy mediumsized white head. Aroma is yeast, some citrus, mild spices, some earth and a bit dusty tones. Flavour is sweet fruits with some yeast, mild spices, grassy bitterness and mild wheat and oat notes.
Organic version of Belgoo's Saisonneke ('little saison'), steinie bottle from a Bioplanet supermarket in Ghent. Very thick, bath foam-like, snow white, stable head towering over an initially cristal clear 'metallic' pale golden beer, turning misty and more ochre-straw-hued with sediment. Aroma of freshly cut green apples, halfripe banana, straw bales, old potatoes, pear peel, sourdough, parsnip mash, chalk. Crisp onset, fruity with light banana note (but no bubblegum effect), green pear and old green apples, fizzy carbonation fit for the style and adding body as well as a sourish carbon dioxide effect, soft bready maltiness, tad soapy on the edges; lingering apple and green banana fruitiness over a grassy, floral and earthy hop bitter ending, with sourish and mildly spicy yeast effects here and there, blending with a minerally, chalky touch. Dryish and very quenching finish. Enjoyable light Belgian blonde, quenching and sufficiently hoppy, pleasant enough on a summer day and not too different from the regular version, though I'd have to revisit that one to be sure...
Tap at Belgoo/Lambiekfabriek. Pale straw with white head. Light sweet malts, dry grainy malts, wet hay, grassy. Moderate sweet and bitter. Lovely soft spices. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Quite dry and pretty good.
Tap at the brewery. Clear pale golden with white head. Soft pils malts, light grapefruit, light yeast, soft herbs, lemon, orange. Light sweet, under medium bitter. Just medium bodied. Bright and fresh, really good.
