A beautiful Golden Amber Barley Wine that is deceptively and perhaps dangerously drinkable at it's elevated ABV. Named for a notorious drinking den in up State New York, Benny Havens will have you singing by closing. Delightful fruity mountains of fruity malt flavours, a little roastyness and devastating late heat. Note the BA is different.

Can from Geers. Hazy dark orange-amber, stable, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of marmalade, apricot jam, orange peel, dark honey, peanut, biscuit, hard caramel, dust, rainwater, vague blue cheese. Taste has sweet apricot, orange & pear in a caramelly, marmalade-like malt body with a spoon of honey; bitter orange peel & herbs lead the way to the herbal hoppy finish that is slightly nutty; dried fruit & caramel are dominant but bitter citrus peel, grapefruit peel almost, lends sufficient bitterness; some warming liqueur alcohol in the back. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. A very surprising interpretation of the Barley Wine style.

30/IV/16 - on tap @ Tilquin English Beer Festival - BB: n/a (2016-476) Thanks to the Belgian Ratebeer Crew (and Beerhunter111) for sharing today's beers!

Note: best beer of the festival for me! Beers like these remind me that in the end, I'm a way bigger fan of barley wines than stouts. Yeah. And I like my steak well done. Bite me! :p
Little hazy orange beer, creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, lots of vanilla, sugary, caramel, bit fruity, dusty. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet, caramel malts, lots of vanilla, bit sourish, lovely stuff! Aftertaste: nice bitterness, resinous, bit sourish, vanilla, caramel. What a beer!
