11 September 2021. At Summer Belgian Beer Geek Gathering. Many thanks, Klaas & Liesbeth, cheers to the whole crew!

Hazy red, thin, pink head. Aroma of sour cherry, cassis, lemon peel, red wine, wood, red grape. Taste has sour cherry & red grape; vinegar & funky hay aspect with a herbal edge. Woody finish, lots of tannic red fruit skins. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Very noble character, nice.

Pours clear, dark red. Scent is medium intense, grapes have the upperhand. Taste is sharp, loads of fruits. Dry, mild tannins. Some oak. Milder lambic. Too grape forward to me.

11/IX/21 - 75cl bottle @ BBGG Summer Edition (Klaas & Liesbeth's place), BB: +5Y, bottled: 20/XI/20 (2021-1043) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the bottle!

Cloudy deep ruby red beer, practically no head. Aroma: bit fruity, tannins, yeast touch, funky, nice brett notes, lovely! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, tannins, dry, hoppy, funky, more tannins, grape skin, meh. Aftertaste: very dry, tannins, funky, more tannins, nope, not really my thing. Too much tannins.

Grape lambic by highly elusive Bofkont, sample at Wild in Groningen. Thin, loose and open, pale pinkish-white 'head' on a deep ruby red beer, bit misty, with even deeper wine red glow in its core. Aroma of ripe Merlot grapes indeed and a lot of them, bread pulp, red apple, stale sweaty note, strawberry yoghurt, rosé wine. Very fruity onset, lots and lots of fleshy ripe 'grapeyness', even with a fructose-sweetish core; softish carbonation, red apple and strawberry accents over a supple bready core dried gently by ongoing, sedate lactic tartness, nowhere becoming too puckering. Some grape skin and wood tannins in the end, a bit astringent but providing balance against that grape juiciness; light undertone of (old hop) bitterness in the end, but never losing that vinous juiciness. Beautiful grape lambic, soft, elegant and packed with flavour, it is not hard to see why these Bofkont bottles are so coveted.

Interesting, quite different from the Dornfelder. This is less smokey, more licoricy somehow. Dropfruitduo. Grapes are quite pronounced, giving a nice sweetness to go with the medium sour base. Nice balance, very tasty.
