330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/9/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear dark ruby red/brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread crust, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread crust, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, light dark fruit/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean lager finish, never yeasty. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.7%. Overall this is an excellent doppelbock! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and easy to drink for the ABV; with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very rich, clean, and complex dark/Munich/light roasted malts; with just enough earthy hops to balance sweetness. Never overly fruity from malt. A really enjoyable offering, perfect style example all around.

Pours dark caramelly copper, very dark brown. Small layer of white head. Smell is bit dry, sweet, complex but unintense backbone ( earthy , caramel,..) Taste is medium bitter, caramel, rather sharp (the low fermentation, probably ) mild cocoa tones underneath the much stronger caramel. Dark bread, breadcrusts ( rather intensely so ) . medium body, medium to medium high carbo. The intensity of taste is medium.
