Kept this bottle for a year (unplanned). Pours a pitch black colour and a light brown head with a small layer retention. Aroma's: bourbon, molasses, umami, woody, roasty. Retronasal it's sweetish, boozy, bourbon, roasty, woody. Flavour is moderate sweet, fudgy, with decent roast, light bitter and a touch of alcoholic sourness. Alcohol actually feels quite mild, certainly not 15+. Medium bodied. Finishes with dark chocolate, a bit roast, light moderate bitter.
Pours black, small tanned head. Scent is very roasty, relatively mild on the barrel.Somewhat boozy. Taste is roasty, bit boozy, sharp bourbon (heath). Ashy malts. OK. Not feeling the amazing feedback provided before me. Medium to medium thick body, medium carbo.
75cl Fles, dank Hugo! Zwarte kleur, beige-bruine kraag. Umami, hout, wat bourbon, kool, caramel, bruine suiker, gebrande mout, koffie, soyasaus, doet erg denken aan enkele dikke Amerikaanse stouts. Wordt steeds beter naarmate het bier opwarmt. Rustig drinken.
Bottle shared. Black with a small beige head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, chocolate, fudge, caramel, vanilla and booze. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Full bodied with a hot alcohol finish and soft carbonation. Very good! In my opinion the best beer to ever come out of Amsterdam.
