Our Bourbon County Reserve 150 Stout is aged for one year in Old Forester’s 150th Anniversary Bourbon Barrels. To celebrate the anniversary, Old Forester’s hand-picked 150 barrels from resting places within the Old Forester barrelhouse, to create three unique batches honoring founder George Garvin Brown and his process of batching from three original distilleries. These hand-picked, limited-edition barrels—combined with our Imperial Stout—create a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration bourbon and beer fans alike will appreciate and cherish. Expect barrel-forward flavor with notes of chocolate, vanilla, and coconut, followed with molasses, almond, berry, and oak.

Thanks Justin for sharing! Taster showing pitch black and sparse latte colored foam.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of marshmallows and light espresso.

The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Moderate to intense alcohol burn with moderate notes of vanilla and coffee with some light but obvious notes of bell pepper and light algae.

Bourbon County Reserve Old Forester 150 Stout 2021.

Sampled at Bourbon County Stout Tasting @ Johnny's. Opaque black color, virtually no head. Aroma and flavor are malts, bourbon, brown sugar. Wow. Thick, rich, full bodied, full flavor, just wow. Perfectly BA. Awesome beer this one. 8-10-10-9-9,5

Pours black, no real head. Scent is hot on the barrel & booze. Roasty, sticky, toasted barrel. taste is full, roasty, thick, full on bourbon forward. Too boozy for me. Nice, as expected, but certainly way overhyped. Still, chances are slim Inbev will ever have a better series in their portfolio. I try to avoid these, but sometimes they pop up on a tasting. I've got the feeling this modern variants all are very, very boozy though. Alternatives are available, and often better / Cheaper.
