Farmstead® Wheat Ale Aged in Oak Barrels with Pears

Flora is the wine barrel-aged version of Florence (1915-1967), our grandfather’s sister as well as the name of our Farmstead® wheat ale. We selected several barrels of Flora and aged it atop organic pears, including a selection of dessert pears (Stacey, Summercrisp, Luscious and Nova) as well as Siberian pears—all from Elmore Roots Nursery in nearby Elmore, Vt. Soft, subtle fruit notes and a delicate golden hue marry with Flora’s singular elegance to embody and exemplify the elements from which it was crafted.

Bottle shared at home, thanks to Maakun! Hazy pale yellow with white head. Soft sour wheats, grains, lemon, hard pears, softened by the barrel. Light sweet, light/mild sour, mountain spring water, soft with minerals. Medium body and soft carbonation. Very nice. Complex and easy drinkable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Flora Pear (2018) on 07 May 2020 at 21:43 - Score: 9. Original review text: Hazy pale yellow with white head. Bottle shared for sjogro's birthday. Slight hazy bright light yellow with small white head. Light funk, lactic notes, white wine, dry oak, light pear, apple, soft grass. Light sweet and sour, very light bitter. Under medium bodied with soft sparkly carbonation. Great.

Sample @ 1st edition Brewver Belgian gathering, Mar 07, 2020. Thanks Eugene.

7/III/20 - 37.5cl bottle @ 1st Official Brewver Meeting / Belgian Beer Geek Winter Gathering (2020), BB: n/a, bottled: 10/I/18 (2020-216) Thanks to ElManana+1 for sharing the bottle!

Little cloudy pale yellow beer, small creamy white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very nice, fruity, quite some pears, bit funky, lovely stuff happening here, love it! MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, lots and lots of tannins, bitter touch, mouth puckering dryness, floral, apples and pears, some apple skin, sourish. Aftertaste: dry, sourish, tannins, bit fruity apple skin, bit malty, sour dry finish.

Bottle shared @ Blåbær Lambik Release 2019. Pours lightly hazy golden with a small white head. Notes of pear (!), HF saisony esters, spices, citrus, oaky sweetness. This is insanely good. The best use of pear in a beer I've had

0,375l from bottle shared during blabaer line. Very light yellow rather hazy color, almost no head. Smells of pears, pear juice, fruit juice. Nice smell. Full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Tastes of pear, bit citric, bit lactic, grassy. Finishes dry and light to medium sour with notes of pear, grassy and fruit juice notes. Very nice one

Original rating 2018 : Thnx to Koen Ko. Pours rather unclear blonde. Small, nearly no white head. Smell is rich, fruity. pear, obviously, but it also kinda resembles apples (cider) to me. Taste is sharp, very fruity ( pear, obviously ) mild tartness. Rather thin, medium high carbo. Very much on the fruity side. 6.8/10

re-rate 2020 : Big difference in score, as I currently gave it an 8/10. Found it much more balanced now. Upping the score to a new average of 7.5

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is floral, pear, apple, oak. Thin body, pear, apple, oak, light funk, nice tartness, enjoyed this.
