Bottle @ Dangerous Bottleshares ft. Lukasmh and Daawi. Thanks Bursprak and Lukasmh for this treat. Pours a milky dark red with a small white head. Aromas of vanilla, blackberries, funky notes, bourbon, stone fruits, oak in the back. Taste is jammy, bourbon, vanilla, tannins, funk, sweet licorice, vinous notes, dry, tart. Damn, this is complex and very nice.

Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a deep copper with a small bit of foam that dissipates. Woody nose with tart berry, fig and bourbon aromas. Flavors come together well on the palate, with the bourbon and fruit melding nicely. Light chocolate and caramel with tart fruit and warming alcohol on the finish. Enjoyable.

Pours unclear brown. Small to medium white head. Very creamy and much lacing. Smell is harsh, vegetal, bourbon, wood, funk. Taste is harsh, oak, funky, lactic sour, berries, very mild bourbon notes ( hidden, rather than the more expressive scent side ) . Ok. Tastes better than it smells.

Bottle in Winter Park with jcnielsen. Thanks Adam. Pours a slightly hazy maroon appearance with a thin, light brown head. Definitely some bourbon in the nose but not overwhelming. Lots of blackberries and raspberries. Some acid. A little spicy. Leather and tannins. Slight notes of plastic. I’m not a big fan of sours aged in bourbon barrels and while this is tasty, it just doesn’t live up to the others R&D series.

Bottle courtesy of Hackobock. Pours murky reddish orangish brown with a pinkish khaki head that leaves lots of thick stick lacing on the glass. Smell is malty, fruity and slightly funky with wholegrain crackers, sourdough bread, rye bread, charred wood, lime juice, blackberries, raspberries, vanilla, moist hay, moist soil, leather, lemon zest and hints of bourbon and balsamic. Taste is tiny sweet, tiny sour, malty, fruity and funky. Mouthfeel is soft, round, dry, slightly tart, berry pit astringent and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sour with rustic bread, blackberry/raspberry jam and hints of buttery vanilla rich bourbon. Not what I expected with the bready malts and jammy berries but well made and quite tasty. --- Beer merged from original tick of R & D Wild Barrel on 27 Mar 2016 at 17:00 - Score: 7. Original review text: Not what I expected with rustic bread malts, jammy blackberries and raspberries, light leathery funk and vanilla rich buttery bourbon.

500ML in a trade

A - Looks like a blood red purple reddish brown ale with a 1 finger pinkish head.

S - Smells great. Lots of berry aroma, a faint barrel aroma and almost no whiskey

T - Well, in the taste, the whiskey is much more pronounced. Bramble out the wazoooooo. Juicy, bright, fruity. There is some shoe-polish here which is really unfortunate.

M - good dense mouthfeel but thins out at the finish

O - This was a good beer but the whiskey barrel actually took away from that.

500mL bottle shared by Chris and Eleanor. Poured into small HotD Fred glass. Pours with voluminous head and a completely murky dark orange-amber. Head retention is long and lots of lacing. Aroma is moderately acetic, tart berries, and some wet wood. Flavor is mostly dominated by acetic and wet wood. The vigorous carbonation adds to a stripped and spiked character to the beer. Ends a bit thin.
