440ml can. Pours black with a big beige head. Aroma of molasses, chocolate, roast malt. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, liquorice, extremely bitter, decent flavours let down by a very acrid and almost astringent finish.
Tap at the VAT and Fiddle, Nottingham. Poured almost black, with a mostly lasting frothy, off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt and liqourice. The flavour is big liqourice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, smoky, liqourice, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A real Foreign Extra Stout.
