16 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/14/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, earl grey tea, mint, orange, lemon, lime, citrus zest, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aroma with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and earl grey tea notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, earl grey tea, mint, orange, lemon, lime, citrus zest, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy spice and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, earl grey tea, mint, orange, lemon, lime, citrus zest, nuttiness, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, floral, grass, yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and earl grey tea flavors; with a nice roast/tea bitter/sweet balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering spice/roast dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 6.4%. Overall this is a delicious spiced American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and earl grey tea flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Great well rounded porter malt complexity; with big presence of the citrusy/earthy tea flavors, but never overwhelming. A very enjoyable and unique offering. Never had anything like it before. Very well made for the base style.
