22-07-20 // bottle from Maruhn. Clear pale yellow golden. Dense and also bubbly white foamy head. Some light spicy peppery Belgian nose. Rich malty body but easy pale malts. Bready, some grains. Dry with a fizzy carbonation. Light floral hop touches. A mild bitterness. A light saison to uch. Also a light alcoholic kiss. Havent had the regular Duvel in ages. Would be nice to compare side by side. This is definitely lighter 1.5% less but also more fizzy, refreshing, floral.

A Duvel stripped off its character. Not too bland, but its aroma's and flavors due to the ripening in the bottle have sadly disappeared. Always choose the red!

500 ml can into signature tulip glass, best before 6/22/2019. Pours crystal clear pale golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, peach, pear, red apple, melon, peppercorn, white grape, light banana/clove, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, peach, pear, red apple, melon, peppercorn, white grape, light banana/clove, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/floral/grassy bitterness and peppery yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, peach, pear, red apple, melon, peppercorn, white grape, light banana/clove, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness and spicy yeast balance; and not astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.8%. Overall this a fantastic Belgian pale ale! All around outstanding omplexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Fantastic balance of classic Belgian yeast complexity, clean pils malts, and earthy noble hop presence. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

500ml can from Brewers Haven. Pours a pale, clear golden, small, but lasting, creamy head. Aroma brings in the yeast, honey, pale malts. Taste is sweet, more of the Belgian yeast, dry bitterness. And the mouthfeel is superb, creamy and smooth. Duvel strikes gold again.

Black can from Craft Brewed under the name Duvel Single Fermented. Pours a clear, golden straw color with a finger of foam that lingers. Lovely floral yeast nose, banana, clove, pear blossom, honeysuckle, wet hay and cracked malt aromas. Peppery bitterness, pear, lemon and hay on the palate as well. Lingering cracked malt, pink peppercorn and lemony hay on the finish. Great beer that goes well with food. --- Beer merged from original tick of Duvel Groen on 20 Jul 2018 at 19:48 - Score: 7. Old bottle found in the fridge at Anke's place, best before: 4/2017. Pours clear golden with a lasting, foamy, white head; some lacing. The aroma contains citrus, mandarin, green apple, spices, honey, yeast, some jenever. It tastes medium fruity sweet, a bit citric, and light to medium spicy bitter, some yeast & bread. Dryish, spicy finish, lingering fruitiness (apple). Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. It probably doesn't age well, and it doesn't have the features of its big brother, but all things considered, this is 'okay'.

Bottle. Color: Clear golden, white head. Taste: Over medium sweet malt, notes of honey and white sugar, hints of apricots. Medium to above medium body, below average carbonation. Pretty long sweetish finish. Little bit sticky mouthfeel. Smooth, easy drinkable. Enjoyable.
