Pours clear, yet very dark tawny. Scent is not very loud. Mild red-wine style of red fruits, but not expressive or specific. No real honey left in the nose. Taste is smooth, tannins make it drying, yet it does have residual sweetness. Astrigency is even present. The conflict makes this weird and less desireable to me. Overpowering red-wine like. Looses the honey. Generic red fruits as far as the grape character goes. Not bad by any means, just not the expectations for a Pyment - as the mead part is lost and this is to me a thicker, tannic red wine with residual sweetness, rather than a kind of mead.
