Tap at Billie’s. Black. Oh yeah, very peated. Sweet chocolate, earthy roasted notes. Mostly a ton of peat. Quite sweet though, medium bitter.

Peated ‘impy’ by Amager, from tap at their pub in Copenhagen, thanks Goedele for sharing. Yellowish beige, medium thick, slightly opening but generally well-retaining head, black robe with waferthin burgundy edge. Aroma of marmite, Chocotoff candy, latté macchiato, indeed a whiff of peaty smokiness amidst the sweetness, black chocolate, brown sugar, nougat, Tia Maria liqueur, vanilla, bayleaf. Sweet onset, very sweet even but somehow managing to avoid unpleasant stickiness, candied date impressions, softish carb with thick and syrupy mouthfeel; toffeeish, Ersatz-chocolatey middle, thick and round, Chocotoff candy again, adorned with a subtle layer of peat, a weak herbal hop bitter note, a light trace of coffeeish roasted bitterness and a warming whisky-like afterglow. The toffee- and Ersatz chocolate-like sweetness dominates even at that point, making it a bit annoying for me, but admittedly this beer is generally well-structured. Less sweetness and more peat please!

Tap at the brewery. Chestnut brown, going towards black, off-white head. Big peat in the aroma, but also big fruity notes, yeah, minarally, leathery, but sweetish, vaguely chocolatey, licorice, salmiakki perhaps a little bit. Salmiakki, peat and sweetness meet in a melange of flavors that simply works, the only issue - a vaguely soapy touch somewhere near the finish. And that's it, that's the issue. So it's pretty much a non-issue. For me, just the right dose of peat - not heavy-handed and rough, but enhancing the base flavors and lifting them up.
