In a time where pastry stout decadence is all the hype, I felt like it was time for a change up. Like music and fashion where some of the best evolution is found in the study and spin on the past, Future Sounds Classic is inspired by the stout classics; those beers simply aged in barrels where time created character. These classics might have been tastefully embellished with coffee or vanilla for an enhanced experience, but for the most part, the brewer, beer and barrel shined. I’m excited to collabeerate with the JWB ohana on this stout that was aged in Grape Brandy and Bourbon barrels. Cheers to a new year and to old times where the Future Sounds Classic.

Pours black, no real head. Scent is juicy, full , chocolate, vanilla. Syrup ! roasty JWB goodness. Taste is full, intense chocolate, syrupy. Mild boozyness (better balanced than the base, to me). Vanilla shines trough nicely, but isn't OP . lovely beer indeed, I liked it just a pinch more than the base.

No head; brown-rimmed black beer. Bourbon, vanilla, double cream, wood. Sweet dessert cream. Vanilla, portwine, black chocolate, fusels & ethanol, dark malts, wood. Very thick, viscous, chewy and very warming. I'm not a fan of pastry stouts - but this one almost saves the whole shebang. It's so powerful and yet discreet. Thanks to Dylan for sharing!
