2009 corked bottle. Orange blonde color. Medium to full bodied. Floral yeasty, slightly herbal flavor with hints of white pepper, pineapple and tangerine. Some warming alcohol. The aroma is lacking a bit, but the flavor is OK.

Trocken rauchiger Antrunk fast ohne Karbonisierung. Süßlich, weiterhin leicht rauchig im Mittelteil, kein Hopfen, dezenter Alkohol, süffig. Langer würzig hefiger Nachgeschmack. Vanille, etwas Birne. 5/9/8/8/7/8

Commissioned by Willems in Grobbendonk and brewed by Kerkom at the time. Off-white, creamy, sticky but not very stable head leaving pretty lacing on the edge of the glass, colour of ’old gold’, with a suspension of minuscule yeast particles. Perfumey aroma of exotic fruits and flowery hops, banana, vanilla, apple peel, unripe peach, wet straw, some orange and young ’jenever’. Mineral-like and a bit neutral at first with restrained fruits (green, sour apple), fresh but subtle citrus touch, light malty middle, a slight hint of H2S and a lightly peppery hop bitterness in the finish, bit phenolic as well, alcohol also noticeable and body a bit thin. I preferred the aroma well over the taste.

2009 version brewed @...? Head reduced in secs to white rim; hazy pale-orange beer. Very alcoholic nose, spicy-yeasty aromas, raw bark. Very earthy, quite-bitterish flavour, ending slightly sweeter. Aromatic hops definitely present. Again bark, root spices. Prickly palate, not fizzy. Medium bodied; alcoholwarming. Very nice tripel indeed. Thanks, Stef!

Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Hazy deep golden, brief lively head. Yeasty nose with some orange and vanilla. Sweet and medium-full bodied with arousing canteloupe-like estery alcohol, creamy sweet maltiness and spun sugar. There are notes of mustard seeds and the malt turns grainy and chewy. Finishes somewhat sticky with with head held high in elegance.
