We figured we'd kick off our upcoming stream of international collabs with a big bang! Heave-to for this muscatel-inspired Barley Wine. Maturated with oak chips for Muscat barrel notes which are balanced by sweet citrus from orange peel and new German hops.

This 9% barley wine will hit you with caramel, toffee, pineapple and pomegranate, while intentionally packing the flavours of Muscat, with the full and sweet texture of a barley wine. Toasted oak notes and a smooth mouthfeel add to the effect.

Bottle (from Alko). Amber colour, small off white head. Aroma is apple jam, some maple syrup, a bit toffee, alcohol and some slight wine like elements. Flavour is toffee, some caramel, mild alcohol, peach, a bit dates and nutty tones with a bit off wood to it as well. Scaringly drinkable for it's abv.

330ml bottle. Almost clear amber with a beige head. Aroma of sweet malts, bubblegum, caramel, wine. Taste is sweet, bubblegum, caramel, orange, apple, marzipan, dried fruits, oaky and surprisingly wine-like (as in actual wine) in the finish. Medium body. Not bad but the bubblegum taste is a bit weird.

Bottle (thanks suurjuust). Pours amber. Aroma is sweet, caramel, malt, spices. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, fruits, malt, spices. Finish is sweet and dry. Overall: ok.

Tried in a bottle from BrewDog online. Amber colour with a pale tan head. Aroma banana, toffee and hint of fruit. Taste light but growing sweet. Body full with alcohol hits.

33cl bottle
Dark coppery color, off-white head with short retention. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, dry fruits and light molasses. Flavor is toasty with good alcoholic presence. Slightly bitterness in the final, alcohol is mostly present.
