Bottle shared at Chris & Ruth´s House. A hazy pale golden beer with a small most good lasting white head. Aroma of sour grapes, wood, brett. Taste of sour white grapes, wood, breet, nice!
375 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/18/2017. Pours hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, pear, green apple, orange peel, white grape, peppercorn, hay, straw, floral, grass, oak, wheat, cracker, white bread, light leather/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy/light funky yeast, citrus/floral hops, oak barrels, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, pear, green apple, orange peel, white grape, peppercorn, hay, straw, floral, grass, oak, wheat, cracker, white bread, light leather/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast spiciness; and light tartness/oak tannins on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, pear, green apple, orange peel, white grape, peppercorn, hay, straw, floral, grass, oak, wheat, cracker, white bread, light leather/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy/light funky yeast, citrus/floral hops, oak barrels, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and minimal astringent flavors lingering after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tart/tannin/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a great dry hopped saison! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy/light funky yeast, citrus/floral hops, oak barrels, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink; despite the increasingly spicy/tart/tannic/drying finish. Nice Amarillo hop presence with classic saison yeast character; and a pleasant amount of the classic JP house funk, without going overboard. Very flavorful, with a nice malt backbone for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
Draft at The Hop Shop. Cloudy to murky yellow color see pic please with menu in the distant background for verification. Aroma of earthy citrus and sourdough bread. Taste is earthy floral lemons. Very nice.
