75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 20. Brought my me, bought at Olivers Cider Barn. Hazed dark brown, beige topping. Aroma of coffee, woody roast. Taste brings excellent complexity with razor sharp definition. Plenty of coffee, woody roast, oak, leather wallet, ash offset by a curious red berry sweetness and a warming red wine close. Wonderfully complex vatted porter, perfect condition after a couple of years in the cupboard, nice natural carbonation. Great example of this long-forgotten style.
F: big, pale tanned, good retention. C: dark brown, opaque. A: sour fruity with chocolate, cocoa, used kitchen woody plate, dark fruits, dark caramel. T: light chocolate fruity, caramel, dark fruits, bit dried fruits, dry on the palate, very nice, medium to full body, medium carbonation, enjoyed, sample draft @ BXLBeerFest 2018 in Brussels.
