2009 Bottle 15 of 156. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of bourbon, sweet chocolate, vanilla, oak and dark cherries. Finishes smooth with mostly sweet chocolate. I was told these bottles might be infected, but I didn’t notice anything amiss. Medium body.
Bottle 22fl.oz. [ Bottle #99/156 ]. Clear dark amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, oak, vanilla, light roasted and chocolate malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110223]
Bottle 53/156, at DC tasting. Medium brown color with no head. Aroma of dark cocoa and milk chocolate. Taste is similar, with a bit of nutmeg. Interesting, but steps outside the boundaries of the style.
courtesy of Markwise. notes of barrel though not overdone but keeping enough character to add a nice warming mouthfeel. Vanilla, chocolate malts, light bitter finish that is quickly followed by barrel goodness.
