13/I/13 - 33cl bottle from Erasmus Hotel, back in the days when it was still a beery place @ Klaas' place - BB: VI/2000 - bottled: VI/98 (2013-20) Huge thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, irregular unstable yellowish head, bit adhesive, some sediment floating around in the glass. Still an amazing head after almost 15 years! Aroma: sweet and sugary, honey, dry sherry, orange peel, candied orange peel, marzipan, spices, madeira. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sourish, orange peel, sugary touch, little vinegar, sour apples, pretty fruity. Aftertaste: honey, little bitter, citric acidity, orange peel, alcohol noticeable. It is very clear from this beer that Kris uses a cooling ship to cool the wort. After all those years the wild yeast and bacteria make the beer more sour than at first, which makes the beer preserve better. Very nice beer if you like both sours and aged beers!

Sehr süer Geruch, etwas getreidig, leicht bitter. Aromatisch hopfig-malzig, cremig. Pours a dark, almost amber-golden color. The head is large and foamy and barely fades; plenty of visible carbonation. Aroma is strong and the age is present through a chocolate aroma. The aged-malty-chocolate is very cool. Some light cardboard in there as well but its still pretty light. The cardboard-chocolate is mixed with un-citric lemon. The medium body evaporated quickly on the tongue. This was a delightful aged experience but I don’t know if this will be good in 2-3 years.
33cL bottle, where else but Erasmus, in a wine glass on 5/20/08.

Tweaking of "Dulle Teve", one ingredient having been changed: instead of the usual beetsugar, cane sugar was used. This resulted in a somewhat lower ABV: 9% instead of 10%. This beer is still readily available at Erasmus tavern in Brugge. Very thick creamy head, orang-amber beer, hazy. Oxidation in the nose, cookies-biscuit (3yrs old), typical musty DDB smell, sugar + honey, and a garden-herbs aroma. Sweet taste - but less than expected. Bitterish, more than expected, blending with the musty flavour to a very balanced beer. There is some oxidation-flavour component. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Very outspoken alcohol-burn. Long honey-flavoured aftertaste, dryer than first taste. A very likeable beer, which defies its BBdate - the hotel-inn isn't fooled and still offers it on the menu.
