Draft at The Hague beer festival. Near black with a small tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, toffee and a strange light chlorine off note. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
On tap at the Hague beer festival. medium creamy tan head. Clear black pour. A decent stout.
Tap at De Pelgrim. Black with quite big tan head. Dried red berries and cranberries, dark chocolate, quite some licorice, dried plums, some ash. Actually this is quite fruity with the roasted notes just barely in the foreground. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with creamy carbonation. Lovely mouthfeel.
Sample, on tap at the brewpub. Clear, very dark reddish brown to black with a thin, creamy, tan head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of chocolate, toffee, nuts and coffee. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee beans, caramel, burnt nuts and hints of raisins, followed by a medium long, roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, flat. Nice!
Very dark brown. Aroma is heavy on the chocolatey malts. Strong malty taste. Rich and creamy texture.
Sampled at PINT Winterbierfestival Gouda, 2015. Dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, some roast, a hint of red fruits, decently bitter. Decent body and carbonation.
