Sampled @ The Tenth Official Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2017, Day 2. A hazy orange brown beer with a huge most good lasting beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, wheat, rotten fruits. Taste of soft tart fruits, caramelish malt, wheat, rotten fruits.
Sampled @ 10th Danish Ratebeer Gathering, Ulfborg, Day 2. Murky red-brown color, medium sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, some kind of sourness, or tart better. Weird otherwise as they say themselves. Not the normal saison by a long shot. Meh, I don’t like it.
Bottle, TTOD(U)RBSG17. Murky brown, huge light beige head. Roasted, yeasty aroma. HUge, fluffy mothfeel. Sourish, malty flavour. Choc notes. Hmm.
6 3 7 3 13 Bottle shared at Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering ’17. Hazy brown with a big light tan head. Aroma of yeast, herbs, chocolate and malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Thx! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ a Samson & Gert Tasting. Murky brown, lots of stuff floating around, huge disappearing mocha head. Nose is weird, metallic, thin mocha near sour, thin chocolate malts,..; Doesn’t feel entirely right, too thin fizzy mocha BE brew, sour mocha, thin, grain, feels a bit off,... Thin, fizzy, bit sour,... Not too far gone but not entirely right either & not very interesting, hard to drink.
Bottle with Blipp, BeerandBlues2 and t0rin0. Gusher. Cloudy brown color variegated massive tan head, floaties. Aroma of toasted brownies. Taste is sour chocolate.
Bottle, shared at my 10K rating celebration. Crazy gusher. Minerally nose, caramel, saison yeast, apples. Muddy brown with a huge, airy head like an infection. White pepper, acetaldehyde, caramel, spice, minerals. Gassy, airy. Nice chocolate and grape notes. Danny’s crazy yeast strikes again.
750 ml bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Took a while to pour a full glass carefully. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red/copper color with a 2-3 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange zest, raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, apple, peppercorn, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, light coffee/nuttiness, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, roast/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange zest, raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, apple, peppercorn, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, light coffee/nuttiness, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of peppery yeast spiciness and light herbal/woody/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange zest, raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, apple, peppercorn, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, light coffee/nuttiness, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, roast/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/dry, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden, only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great dark saison! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, roast/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink for the big ABV; thanks to the high carbonation. Great presence and overall complexity of yeast/malt flavors. Never acrid/astringent on roast/hop notes; or overly prickly/foamy/drying from the carbonation in the mouthfeel. A very enjoyable offering.
