7 3 7 3 14 Draft at Foeders, Amsterdam. Very hazy golden orange with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of brett funk, barnyard, manure, light citrus and green weeds. Flavour is light sweet and moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation. [24/06/2017]
Tap at Foeders in Amsterdam. ’Bretted’ pale ale (apparently intended as an EPA) with cobweb-lacing, egg-white, moussy head and hazy straw blonde colour with light peachy tinge, clearly a lot less ’amberish’ than a typical EPA would look. Aroma very Bretty, including hints of damp hay, urine, horse stable, old pears, dried out peaches alongside subtle grapefruity and floral hop notes. Fruity, mildly estery onset, apricot, gooseberry and pineapple, some sour plum even, refreshing with medium carbo, bone dry middle with even a slightly powdery mouthfeel, on a cereally, lightly ’white’ bready malt base; Bretty finish, hayish, leathery and old books-like, with a spicy, even somewhat tonic water-like hop bitterness underneath, further accentuating the already considerable dryness - which leads to a very pleasantly quenching effect. Very nice ’wild ale’ but I don’t see much connection to the classic English pale ale, to be honest.
